We hold Two Types of Meetings - Stated (Regular) and Emergent (Special)
We hold nine regularly scheduled, or "Stated" meetings a year, during the months of September, October, November, January, February, March, April, May and June. There are no regularly scheduled meetings during July, August and December.
Our Stated Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each relevant month (except, June, which is held on the third (3rd) Tuesday of June, so that on years when the meeting is hosted by Huron Feathers, the staff will be in place), primarily at the various churches within our Presbytery, on a rotational basis. We hold our June meetings in rotation at two of our special locations, Huron Feathers, in Sauble Beach, or Stokes Bay, on the Bruce Peninsula. We also occasionally have meetings elsewhere, such as at the wonderful Youth Camp within our Presbytery, at Camp Kintail, just off Hwy. 21, South of Kincardine and North or Goderich.
During the warmer months of September, October, April, May and June, our meetings are held at 6:30 p.m., preceded by dinner at 5:30 p.m. During the colder months of November, January, February and March, our meetings are held at 10:00 a.m., breaking for lunch at noon.
The meetings in September, November, February and April feature an Educational Component, hosted and arranged by our Standing Committees on a rotational basis. The alternate meetings, in October, January, March and May are Committee based meetings, featuring Committee reports and Emergent business only. June is a regular meeting, without any educational component
In addition to our Stated Meetings, we often hold Emergent meetings to deal with special, urgent or extraordinary matters that arise between regular stated meetings and require immediate attention. Such Emergent meetings can only be called by the Moderator.
